The rather touristy farm shop at the entrance to Powderham Castle contains an excellent butcher, a franchise of an Exeter firm, who specialise in the local ruby red beef and venison. The butcher is helpful and chatty- he knows his meat. I called for some sausages and left with £50 of meat!
